Excel in Faithfulness Scholarship The Reverend Vickey Gibbs and Brother Jerry Reitz Scholarship Fund was established in 2021 by The Excel in Faithfulness team of Excel Retreat Ministries. The mission of The Reverend Vickey Gibbs and Brother Jerry Reitz Scholarship is to provide financial assistance to individuals enrolled in undergraduate or graduate studies from a fully accredited college/university focusing on Divinity or Theology in memory of two of our beloved Excel members, Reverend Vickey Gibbs and Brother Jerry Reitz. Their pioneering efforts have helped Excel touch many lives through the power of God.
The Reverend Vickey Gibbs and Brother Jerry Reitz Scholarship Fund awards a scholarship on the basis of a comprehensive process. Areas that are reviewed by the committee include, but are not limited to the following: Academic accomplishments, community service, and financial needs. The Reverend Vickey Gibbs and Brother Jerry Reitz Scholarship pays scholarship funds in the amount of $2500 directly to the recipient. The Reverend Vickey Gibbs and Brother Jerry Reitz Scholarship is awarded without regard to race, color, ethnicity, gender, or sexual orientation. Scholarships awarded are based upon the availability of funds and additional qualifying criteria.
Scholarship Requirements:
- Applicants must be enrolled or accepted into a 4-year college or university as a Divinity or Theology Major..
- Applicants must currently hold a minimum weighted GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
- Applicants must be accepted or enrolled as a full-time student at a college for the upcoming academic semester.
- Applicants must demonstrate a need for financial assistance.
- Applicants must complete and submit a Scholarship Application by the deadline.

We are excited to announce our 2023 Scholarship recipient of The Reverend Vickey Gibbs and Brother Jerry Reitz Scholarship, Joy Al-Ameen. Joy is studying to receive her Master’s Degree in Divinity. In her application, Joy states, “I was raised to give back and to help others. I want to be able to help those in need and felt the best way to do that would be with an educational background based in the word of God. Overall, I want to do everything I can to radiate the Love and Light that God is and support anyone in my path. “
